How to Make a PDF Smaller for Email
Understand what affects PDF size, what browser-only compression can do, and how to verify the final attachment size.
Use Toolvuno’s PDF Compressor and check the result before downloading.
Open PDF Compressor →1. Check the source PDF
Image-heavy scans are often much larger than text-based PDFs. A PDF containing mostly text may already be compact, leaving little room for further reduction.
2. Try the local compressor
Open the PDF compressor and select your file. The current tool prioritizes browser-local processing; depending on the file structure, it may not be able to meaningfully reduce the file.
3. Verify the result before sending
Compare the output size with the original and open the downloaded PDF to make sure its pages are readable. Do not replace your only copy until you have checked the result.
4. If the file is still too large
Consider reducing scan resolution at the source or exporting image-heavy documents at a more suitable quality. Avoid unknown services for confidential documents.
Important to remember
No tool can guarantee a target such as 1 MB for every PDF. Results depend on embedded images, fonts, existing compression and the method used to create the file.
Check whether a PDF can be optimized locally and download the output.
